Production & Distribution
There are two main forms of film distribution, distributing a film independently and distributing through a film distribution company. Distributing a film independently
By distributing a film independently, you do all of the distributing yourself with no assistance from an outside party. Websites such as YouTube can be used to show trailers of the films to gain public interest in the film. Blogs can also be used to inform followers about the film, its release date in cinemas and/or on DVD and perhaps later on about a sequel. Reviews in newspapers and magazines can make the readers interested in the film and offer either free or cheap publicity to a mass audience, depending on the publication.
Using distribution companies
A distribution company will take care of the distribution of a film after the production phase. They determine the release strategy and release date of a film. The company organises the release of trailers and other advertisements to the general public. Examples of film distributors are Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, Icon Film Distribution and Pathè Distribution.
