In the UK, age ratings on films are determined by the BBFC (The British Board of Film Classification). It is basically to state how old a person has to be to watch different films. It is decided through a board of members who listen to the public's opinion on content. They take into consideration:
- Discrimination
- Drug use
- Horror
- Imitable behaviour
- Language
- Nudity
- Sex
- Themes
- Violence

- U - Universal (suitable for all).
- PG - Parental guidance; General viewing (unaccompanied child of any age may watch but some scenes may upset children under 8).
- 12 - Suitable for 12 years and over.
- 12A - Suitable for 12 years and over but a child under 12 may watch in a cinema if accompanied by an adult.
- 15 - Suitable for 15 and over.
- 18 - Suitable for 18 and over.
- R18- Suitable for 18 and over but are only shown in specialist cinemas and shops.
For our film, we have decided on a certificate of 15 as the film will contain some violence, horror and language.
